View from The Forest tram stop looking across the P&R towards the larger rides
that were being assembled the week before the Goose Fair. The P&R car
park closed for use the following day from this photo, and would not reopen
until the Tuesday after the fair. The area occupied by cars in this
shot will be filled with fairground rides, amusements and stalls etc.
Whilst I was standing at The Forest there was a continuous stream of fair
ground lorries and their caravans arriving at the site, causing the odd tail
back across the tram line at the junction of Gregory Boulevard and Noel
Street. The above view should wet the
appetite of those you love fun fairs - this photo was taken 4 days before
the start of the fair - so you can understand why the Goose Fair is the
largest travelling fair in Europe. This should also indicate the
photographic possibilities for day and night shots when the fair is in full
swing. The cars in the car park today were
leafleted with a notice stating the
closure of the Park and Ride site with suggestions off using the Wilkinson
Street Park and Ride. ©

Tram 212 on a Station Street service from Hucknall. This shot was taken about noon. In each tram tram there were notices and leaflets explaining the extra trams and also changes to the fare structure, with the corny slogan of the "Goose Fare". NET ran extra trams for the Goose Fair on Thursday 7th October to Saturday 9th October with a minimum service of trams every 6 minutes from the Forest up to midnight each day, and all 15 trams will be pressed into service if required. Hence the possibility to ride all the trams in one day! ©
