Waiting at Bulwell tram stop.

Bulwell has an island platform, and most people leave by the north end crossing in front of the tram they just got off.  Bulwell is also the start of the single line sections.

Bulwell - Highbury Road bridge.

As you can see this bridge was designed for two tracks only, hence the singling of both the tram and railway lines.

Carey Road level crossing.

Carey Road level crossing a gated crossing shared with the Robin Hood line.  Before the tram there were 4 trains an hour in the week, now there are 4 trains and 8 trams an hour off peak, ie the gates go up and down like a brides nightie now!

Bulwell Forest tram stop crossing.

The tram stop is a short way from the Level crossing.  What is a miss opportunity is the only access is via the level crossing, there is no direct access to the shops behind, hence no incentive to get the tram to Morrissons.

Waiting at Bulwell Forest tram stop crossing.

Whilst waiting for the signal to clear at Bulwell Forest, the Robin Hood line train that we first saw just after Wilkinson St, finally gets away from us.  Note the off street platform indicator, BFS3R showing that the stop signal ahead is at stop.

Waiting at Bulwell Forest tram stop crossing.

During the 4 trams an hour off peak service, trams cross at Bulwell Forest.  In is not uncommon to wait to cross here.

Just in front of the third overhead mast can be seen the stop signal for the tram stop.

Between Bulwell Forest and Moor Bridge tram stops.

Just before Moor Bridge the tram line passes under Hucknall Road.  To the right can be seen Moor Bridge passing loop on the Robin Hood Line.

Approaching Moor Bridge tram stop.

The facing point indicator is the right, and on the Robin Hood line, the long passing loop can be seen, with there signals.

The tram rejoins the single line.  By the point on the right is a SPAS indicator and on the left is a rear view of the facing point indicator.

Between Moor Bridge and Butler's Hill tram stops.

There is an unprotected foot crossing by the Robin Hood line signal which links Hucknall Lane/Nottingham Road with Old Mill Close.  The only concession to safety here is the installation of staggered barriers to prevent people running on to the tram line, as the speed limit is 80 Kmph here.

Between Moor Bridge and Butler's Hill tram stops.

To the right of the Robin Hood line, there is the disused branch to Calverton colliery.

Approaching Butler's Hill tram stop.

There is an occupation crossing at the south end of the tram stop.  This crossing is controlled by the user pumping up barriers which are interlocked with the track circuits.  There is also the protection of flashing lights and bells for the user.  This crossing is well used when compared with the one at the north end of Butler's Hill.

Butler's Hill tram stop.

There is a stop signal within the confines of the loop at Butler's Hill, unlike the other northbound stops on the single line sections. I presume this is because a tram turning here by running past the points would then foul the Brickyard Drive crossing control circuits.

Butler's Hill tram stop.

At the north end of the trams stop is a warning sign for Brickyard Drive level crossing which is further on.

Butler's Hill tram stop.

At the north end of the trams stop, there is an occupation crossing which gives access to fields opposite.  This crossing has been replaced in the expectation of little traffic!   The footbridge provides access between Butler's Hill and Bestwood Village.

Approaching Brickyard Drive level crossing.

As the crossing is an automated crossing there is a 40kmph speed limit, with an indication of where to brake safely if the barriers have not gone down.

Brickyard Drive level crossing.

This level crossing is an automatic half barrier crossing.  The crossing is protected by flashing white lights to indicate that the gates are down.

Approaching Hucknall.

The park and ride car park is to the left.  The Robin Hood line is slewed to make room for the tram stop.

Approaching Hucknall tram stop.

As the tram appaoches Hucknall it reaches the "give way" sign, which has the Hucknall "starter" signal mounted on the same post behind it.  The "20mph" speed restriction sign is for the Robin Hood line.

Approaching Hucknall tram stop.

The Robin Hood line, which is to the right has a station here adjacent to the tram stop.  The south end of the Robin Hood platform is indicated by the green and yellow fence.  Hucknall has two platforms, with the west platform furthest from the Robin Hood line as the preferred platform.

Hucknall tram stop - The End

The Robin Hood line has a single platform which backs on to the non-preferred tram platform.  The Park and Ride car park is to the left of the tram stop.
